ABOUT
ME
Explorer at Heart - Kilian Korth
There is nothing I enjoy more than going to new places and exploring the outdoors. The challenges posed by mountains and remote landscapes foster the most rewarding experiences and I hope through coaching to inspire and empower others to feel the same way.
For most of my life, I was a competitive swimmer. A Division I athlete at American University, I swam through college and once I graduated I was looking for new challenges. I signed up for a marathon in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia in May of 2018 and once I crossed the finish line I knew I was hooked. Later that same year in July, I completed my first ultra-marathon, the Silver Rush 50 in Leadville, CO. That was my first race on trails and I knew that was where my focus was going to be for my running career. Having trained at sea level, the race was hard but I'd never felt better having crossed the finish line and qualifying for the Leadville 100. In October 2018, I ran my first 100 mile race in the hill country of Texas. Going from running a marathon to 100 miles in less than six months would not be my recommended progression rate for any runner, but the struggles in my first few ultra-marathons taught me more than any class or person had in my entire life prior to those challenges.

I currently reside in Grand Junction, CO where I train for races on trails ranging from alpine mountain environments to hot desert wastelands. Outside of running, I enjoy backcountry skiing, reading, and writing poetry. Challenges of all kinds appeal to me and I am always looking for ways to improve my approach to life. The Run Tough Philosophy helps me through all sorts of stress and I believe it can help you too.
